About Me

My photo
Julie Frechette
I have been an educator for over 24 years and an engaged member of the academic community. Currently, I am the Faculty Program Lead for the MSC Program in the School of Professional Studies at Clark University. I also serve as Professor of the Department of Communication at Worcester State University, Worcester, Massachusetts where I teach undergraduate courses in media criticism, media literacy, gender and media, communication theory, and political communication. I currently serve as the faculty advisor to the accelerated Masters program between both institutions. My latest book Media Education for a Digital Generation (2016, Routledge) explores the impact of living in the Digital Age. My co-authored book, Media In Society (2014, Bedford St. Martin) explores the social, political and economic impact of media in our lives. My previous book, Developing Media Literacy in Cyberspace: Pedagogy and Critical Learning for the Twenty-First-Century Classroom, (2002, Praeger Press) was among the first to explore the ‘new multiple literacies’ approach for critical learning online.
